Affiliate Disclosure

How FacelessJournal makes money, which links are affiliate links, and the commitments we make in exchange.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

The longer version

How it works

When you click an affiliate link, a cookie is set that tells the vendor you came from this site. If you buy within that vendor's attribution window, they pay us a percentage of the sale.

The commission comes out of the vendor's marketing budget. It is not added to your price, and it does not reduce any discount you are eligible for.

What we earn

This site's primary affiliate relationship is with StoryShort, whose affiliate program pays a commission on referred subscriptions. We may add other programs in the future, and this page will be updated when we do.

What we will not do

  • We do not accept payment for a positive review. No vendor has paid us to write

about them, and no vendor has seen these articles before publication.

  • We do not hide downsides to protect a commission. Where a tool has a policy that

will cost you money — a no-refund policy, credit expiry, a pricing tier that does not include the feature you need — we say so in the review itself, in the same document that contains our affiliate link.

  • We do not claim testing we did not do. Our

tool comparison states plainly which tools we have hands-on experience with and which are covered from public information only.

Why you should still be skeptical of us

You should assume that any site with affiliate links has an incentive to recommend something. Ours is no different. What we can offer is a stated bias you can evaluate:

We are biased toward tools that are worth the subscription, because a reader who wastes money does not come back. Our commission depends on your subscription renewing, not on you buying once and regretting it.

The practical consequence is that our reviews sometimes recommend that you spend nothing yet — a recommendation that earns us nothing at all.

Affiliate links on this site are marked in the page markup with rel="sponsored", and disclosure notices appear at the top of every article containing them.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you think a recommendation looks influenced rather than earned, tell us. Use the contact page — we would rather hear it than not.
